Senior Data Engineer

Data Delivery is vital to IT & Data Excellence function within the Digital Execution & Technology business units in Aker BP. We are responsible for competency, services, and resources as an excellence function.  The Data Delivery team contribute to enabling Aker BP to become a data-driven company by delivering industry-leading data capabilities across the entire value chain.  

 

Aker BP’s vision is to establish a Digital Twin for the operations of the Yggdrasil field. This digital twin is being built on Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) and custom code and pipelines through the Azure platform. An operational digital twin put strong requirements to the underlying data platform to provide reliable, trusted and governed data.

 

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help develop our excellence-function to enable our teams to deliver the required reliable, trusted and governed data products. This role will be pivotal in establishing best practices, scalable architecture, and cross-team collaboration to ensure data products meet enterprise standards for quality, security, and usability.  Further, in this role you will also be part of the Yggdrasil data delivery team as a tech lead, working hands-on together with the wider team.   

 

Typical work tasks and experience can be:

  • Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines using Python, SQL and Rest APIs
  • Ability to guide the team in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and systems, focusing on quality, performance, and availability in alignment with defined standards, reference architecture and data delivery requirements.
  • Proven ability to drive and manage end-to-end data delivery processes, including integrations, data extractions, modeling, and analysis—ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives and data governance standards.
  • A DevOps mindset with hands-on experience in version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and deployment environments
  • Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex data delivery issues, ensuring minimal disruption, root cause identification, and continuous improvement across data platforms  and processes.
  • Professional experience with Azure (cloud services, deployment, data management)
  • Preferably experience with Cognite Data Fusion (CDF)

 

Skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in relevant discipline. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education
  • The successful applicant will be given the necessary training to succeed.
  • Customer-focused mindset and strong ability to plan and prioritize  
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian, both verbal and written
